I actually read this book quite a bit later than The Omnivore’s Dilemma, so it wasn’t as life altering as it might have been, but still it had some great insights, and served up some interesting theories about the correlation between fast food, shopping malls, urbanization, and obesity, among other things. He reveals more information about the meat processing industry than The Omnivore’s Dilemma as well. It’s hard to imagine how any writer could get any information from a meat processing plant; if any of what has made it into print is actually true, you can certainly understand why the plants would not want John Q. Public to know what goes on in there.
